Many things are covered, organized, beautiful, and convenient.
On the other hand, there is an inconvenience in that deficient things and things sticking out are not permitted.
The imagination that fills in blanks.
The possibilities of things that are insufficient.
Things are more beautiful because they end!
I want to go on living without forgetting the aesthetic sensibilities long held by Japanese.
Kyogen is an art of laughter.
It is precisely because in the world there are arts that know no “perfection” that I want to live in acceptance of their beauty and inconvenience.

What does “Clothing” mean to you?
The fact that I am living now is proof that I am me.
The reason is that, aside from the time they are born into this world, people wear clothing.
And because of my own volition I can choose freely from limitless possibilities of clothing, which we might call a second skin for modern people.

I want to spread gender equal Kyogen, and aim for the realization of a sustainable society.

What does “Clothing” mean to you?
It is something beautiful, interesting, rational, and something that when I wear it makes my body and mind dance.
What does “Contemporary Life” mean to you?
I looked up the etymology of “contemporary.”
It comes from the Latin con (together) + temporarius (of the age) →tempus (time, age) + arius (of), so the sense of “contemporary” arose from people or things of the same age, or sharing the same time.
Looking back, there have been many contemporary lives that are quite different from the current one. This is because society rapidly changes, and things rapidly fall in and out of fashion. I think that contemporary life is life where those transitions, the time that I and each person has marked, and the eras that people have lived, exist “of the same time.” So the colors and auras of people, and the things they bear are very rich and varied. And it is precisely because I value the time that I have lived that now I am still living with all my heart. It is con-temporary life encompassing all of these things.
In me, the hearts of people that have continued since the Kyogen of the Muromachi period, the morality, laughter, the views of nature, the history… all of those things live together in me. And there are many other things aside from those. That makes me live. And the contemporary life that I lead is a very fun one.

In the coronavirus crisis, I have had many opportunities to think about what is truly necessary for people to live.
People cannot live by themselves. I want them to live healthily and happily, and I too want to live healthily and happily. So I think that it is important to laugh, and it is also important to be able to feel that you have laughter and happiness within your daily life.
I am a Kyogen actor, so there is no happiness for me without Kyogen, but within Kyogen is contained all of those things I mentioned above. Through Kyogen, many people can laugh, enjoy, and feel the true essence of happiness, and if I am working on a production, I too can feel happy.
